How The Game Works
Both opponents must agree to the type of battle they would like to have. Also they must decide if they would like a GM to join in the battle. If so, please post a link under Upgrade Character so we know where to go.
After the battle if not freelancing in a city, please post the link to the battle on the Update Character forum. We will distribute items/experience/ap for stories/battles posted. Only post if in a city if the thread is closed.
Stat Battle:
Stat Battles are exactly what they sound like, battles which involve stats. These are pretty simple to go about, since the basis for these are the statistics that you have been working so hard to obtain. Yet do not be fooled, stats are not the only thing which calculates how these battles work. There will also be description to your actions and strategy. For example, saying "I swing at Cloud" is probably going to result in a miss. The more details you put in, the harder it will be for the opponent to dodge.
Damage Calculation:
The Attack stat of the Attacker is subtracted by the Defense stat of the Defender, and that difference is the resulting damage.
Magic attacks are calculated in a similar way. The Magical Attack will be subtracted from Magical Defense, and that is the magic damage.
Speed is something which while it matters does not do direct damage. To begin with it determines who goes first, highest Speed Stat will of course make the first action. Now it does more than this though, it also allows for someone to attack multiple times in a row. For this to happen the following must be true:
To Attack twice, your Speed must be 35% or higher than that of your opponent.
To Attack thrice, your speed must be 45% higher than that of your opponent.
Freelance Battles:
Freelance Battles are self-explanatory. They are battles where stats do not matter, all which is calculated into it is pure strategy. This form of battling will be a lot more entertaining for certain RPers, but one thing needs to be taken into account. Usually these battles will continue on until the parties decide one won. These are very common in the rp areas of places and are later looked over by the GM's for experience, items, and gold. They do not hold as great a reward as stat battles but are a little more entertaining.
